X-ray anti-scatter grid production machine

EBtech developed an X-ray anti-scatter grid production machine for a customer who is a leading developer and producer of high tech electronics and medical equipment in the Eindhoven region.
The first six machines are taken in production and our customer will expand with more units in the future.

The development took place in three steps:

  1. Investigate the current equipment and gather specifications of future products,
  2. Develop a prototype comprehending new concepts and production methods,
  3. Design and build the new Assembly Table (Pilot).

One of the challenging aspects of the project was exploring and improving the production process in every detail. This exploration lead to a new production method which improved the quality of the high-end X-ray anti-scatter grids in a radical way and opened new markets. 

Unfortunately, due to confidentiality reasons no details can be given here about the machine.

A few properties of this production machine:

  • 8 servo Maxon motors,
  • 2 Heidenhain linear encoders,
  • Granite base on a welded frame,
  • Sub-micron accuracy,
  • Particle extraction,
  • Touch screen Graphical User Interface,
  • PC for GUI, data logging and product recipes,
  • Siemens PLC (80 DIO, 8 AIO, 2 Counters, Ethernet, CAN),
  • Pilz safety PLC
